9:00~9:40 | 「Multilayer Flexible Displays Using ElectroluminescentInk」 This research investigates the advantages of additive prototyping for integrating electroluminescent (EL) circuitry into multi-layered electronic prototypes. By enabling rapid iteration and testing, this technology fosters innovation in industries like automotive, enhancing dashboard displays and ambient lighting for improved user experience. It also facilitates the development of flexible wearable devices by seamlessly incorporating EL elements into clothing and accessories. The study evaluates various EL inks from ACI Materials and Saralon for multi-layer printing across four material layers: conductive silver ink, dielectric ink, blue light-emitting phosphor ink, and conducting polymer, tested on paper cardstock and PET. Using the Voltera NOVA precision materials dispensing system, the research identifies direct-ink write technology as optimal, despite challenges in achieving smooth surfaces between layers. In addition, we will briefly cover other applications enabled by direct write dispensing with NOVA, including smart wearables, printed batteries, and bio-electrodes on advanced materials. Through iterative testing of material variations and printing parameters, the study successfully validated multi-layer printing with desired print quality and conductivity in a functioning prototype, highlighting the potential of screen printable ink in diverse printed electronics applications. |
